Week in Dubai - II

I returned Friday from traveling again to Dubai for work. We did get some time to do a little sight seeing while there.

Our hotel this time was part of the Jumeirah Beach resort, for about a mile in each direction the road in front of the hotel there were many shops and restaurants, as well as many artists working along the sidewalks.

This guy was a German artist that made sculptures by balancing rocks.

This work-in-progress is a horse made from old tires.

From the hotel you can see the Jumeirah Palm Island (link) and the construction still underway.

Also from my room there was a good view of the Burj Al Arab (link), which they say is the only 7-star hotel in the world. Per the web site, for only $1,800/night you get not only your room but also a butler and a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce.

We went down to the old part of Dubai, there is a lot of commerce along "The Creek" as well as the old marketplace (Souk)

Ski Dubai is the world's largest indoor snow park, inside the Mall Of The Emirates.

Burj Al Arab

Twin buildings modeled after the Chrysler Building in NY

Burj Dubai - Will be the tallest building in the world when complete. Construction is currently on hold because of the worldwide banking crisis.
