Friday morning we took off for a long weekend in Bar Harbor, Maine. We made a day of the trip and found some fun things along the way.

The Cat in the Hat and Dr. SeussThen, In Portsmouth, NH we visited the USS Albacore. The Albacore (link) was built in the Portsmouth Navel Shipyards in the 1950's. The Albacore was primarily a test vessel, used to test control and propulsion systems, sonar equipment, and other systems before being incorporated into the rest of the fleet.

Then in Yarmouth, ME, we visited the Delorme Map Store (link), where they have the largest globe in the world. It's 129 feet, 2 1/2 inches around and weighs 5600 lbs.
